Nadia Sablin was a very interesting
speaker. I loved hearing her story and did not want it to end. I know there
have been ups and downs in her life but I almost wish I could live in her
shoes. I love to travel and hear others
stories of people in different countries. I think it’s awesome that she comes
up with an idea and makes a story out of it. So many people around the world
have a story and she is able to capture some. I hope to someday have a job like
hers. I think it was neat how she took pictures of specific people each year.
Those people will really cherish those images. For Nadia to be able to tell a
story of those people throughout the years with pictures is pretty amazing. She
seems like a really easy and honest person to talk to which is an advantage
when asking others if she can take their picture. The way Nadia is able to tell
the story of her aunts is unique. Especially since they do not express emotion.
So Nadia being able to sort of capture their life and emotion through pictures
is unique. Although her aunts emotions may not be outwardly expressed, there is
still parts to be seen through their actions. I was interested when we talked
about her funding because that was one of my questions. I would love to hear
more about her funding including more about how to get grants. Being a
photographer and traveling the world is very expensive and you wonder how they
can do it. I would love to travel to 3rd world countries telling
people stories but I always wonder how I would be able to fund the trips. Its
cool to see how she is making money doing what she loves to do. My dream is to
travel the world sharing the love of God with people, helping them, providing
resources and tell their story through pictures. Hearing her story makes my
dream seem possible.

Jim Lennon Reaction Paper
Visiting
Jim Lennon’s studio was a cool experience. I have never been to a photo studio
and I was very excited to hear from him. When I was told before the actually
visit that him actually went to school for business I wasn’t surprised because
you truly do need to know the business end of it in order to be successful. My
father owns his own business in lawn sprinklers and he teaches me so much on
the business end. When I do photo shoots sometimes, he always tells me all the
things I need to factor in. The price may seem expensive but you have to be
confident in yourself and know that you deserve it. You need to make a living,
you do a lot of work, you have to pay your assistant, pay for Photoshop, have
money incase something breaks, insurance and so many other things. I am very
blessed to have a father that really knows business, he always encourages me to
take business classes and I have taken some in the past. But hearing it from Jim Lennon was a good
reminder and a conformation that it really does take a lot of work and you
truly need to know about business. Hearing from Jim about location scouts and
hairdressers and all these other factors was interesting. You really need to
get a lot of things together before a photo shoot. I appreciated the fact that
his office was in a place where people could see him. You really need to be
personable with your clients and having an office that makes it a lot more
friendly and welcoming. It was crazy how may lights he had in the storage room
for when he has photo shoots outside of the studio. It was interesting to here
him talk about how he puts the mats down when he rolls the cases of lights. My
dad has always talked me to be respectful even if they may not realize.
Everyone is different, some people would not car a bit if you came and rolled
all these suitcases across their floors but others with watch each step to make
sure everything it in align and no scratches are being made on the floor. So
you are always better being safe than sorry. Always be respectful. I am really
thankful that we took this trip because when you get to be hands on and
actually go to a studio it really teaches you a lot.

Trick or Treat
I shot this image of my best friend right after she got her face painted. This was halloween night and my church was having a family fun fest and a bunch of us painted our faces. I like this image a lot because of the depth of field. She's so clear and you have no clue whats in the background. Hope you enjoy!
